Saint Patrick’s well in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, Ireland is one of the largest holy wells in Ireland. Situated in a small glen at the bottom of a long set of winding steps, the waters from the well flow into a large pond.
In the middle of the pond is a small island where a stone cross is set. The cross is believed to be from the 5th century. Here also is a small church which was restored in 1969 with the help of Mr Sam Yorty a former Mayor of Los Angeles, a Mr Armand Hammer an American businessman and the Irish Israeli society of South California.
