The Sligo County Museum contains facinating exhibits detailing Sligo's rich stone-age history with items including flint arrow heads and axes as well as a firkin (old English measure) of 100-year-old bog butter. The Yeats Room contains footage of W.B Yeats funeral cortege as well as various manuscripts, photographs, letters and newspaper cuttings associated with Yeats and includes a copy of his 1923 Nobel Prize medal as well as a complete collection of his poems from 1889 to 1936.
The museum also contains paintings by Irish artists Sean Keating, George Russell, and Jack. B. Yeats a brother of W.B. Yeats
There is also a display of artefacts and memorabilia associated with Countess Constance Markievicz and her sister Eva Gore-Booth.
