Rossnowlagh or Rosnowlagh Beach is in west Donegal and is renowned as one of Irelands main surfing beaches. The beach is about 3km long and is located about 8.5 km north of Ballyshannon and 16.0 km southwest of Donegal Town as shown on our map. The beach is very popular with families and is frequented by walkers, surfers, wind-surfers, kite-surfers and swimmers. Rossnowlagh is one of Ireland's and Europe's best Blue Flag and surfing beaches. The beach can generate huge rollers and has been known to have waves up to 7 metres (20 ft) high during major swells. A surf report can be found here at Magicseaweed. This beach is lifeguard patrolled throughout the bathing season (lifeguard times are posted on the information board on the beach). Rossnowlagh has good safe facilities and has excellent water quality.
