Inishowen Head is near the fishing village of Greencastle, Co Donegal in the northwest of Ireland. It is a Discovery Point on the Wild Atlantic Way. Here you have splendid scenery overlooking the Atlantic to the north and Lough Foyle to the east and there is also a waymarked loop walk to enjoy. This remote loop walks follows rural roads and tracks, taking in the WWII Lookout Tower, the slopes of Crocknasnug and Portkill from where St Columba left for Iona. On a clear day you might even be lucky enough to see Scotland. At Dunagree Point 1km from the Head, two Lighthouses were built in 1837 to guide vessels into Lough Foyle.
