The Cork and Kinsale Junction Railway (C&KJR) built an 11 mile (18 km) branch line in 1867 to connect the town of Kinsale to the main Cork to Bantry railway line. This line closed again in 1931 as it was not profitable. The Kinsale train station still survives but is derelict and in need of attention and maybe the creation of a tourist attraction would be an idea?

There are plans in place to upgrade and redevelop the dismantled railway from Cork to Kinsale as a Greenway providing an offroad walking and cycle route along the entire length. This would be an amazing tourist attraction in Ireland if it was developed.
