This is an easy 30min walk to the historic and amazing Cahergall Stone Fort near Caherciveen, Co. Kerry in the south west of Ireland.
Cahergall Fort is said to have been built around 600AD and is freely open to the public. With an internal diameter of nearly 25m and its massive dry-stone walls rising up to 6 metres high and 5m thick at the base, this is an awe inspiring structure. Cahergall is only short walk from equally as impressive Leacanabuaile Stone Fort. Both forts are relatively unknown, maybe due to being over shadowed by the nearby Loher and Staigue Forts near Waterville.
Use our Map of Ireland and Sat Nav tool to get directions here and our detailed maps and GPS on our ActiveME iPhone and Android App to find and follow the walking route live on screen and keep on track. At all times, our maps and App should be used in conjunction with proper map and compass navigation techniques.
