Baltimore is a fishing village on the very southwest of Ireland. Across the natural harbour lie Carbery's Hundred Isles which include Cape Clear, Sherkin and Heir and all can be reached by ferry from Baltimore. It is a sailing paradise with angling, diving, and whale watching being some of the other attractions of the area.
Baltimore is steeped in history and in1631 much of the population was carried off by Algerian pirates never to be seen again, an event known as the Sack of Baltimore. A book worth reading is "The Stolen Village - Baltimore and the Barbary Pirates" by Des Ekin
