Lower Aghada Pier in East County Cork, Ireland is a good spot for bottom fishing for Flounder, Dabs and Dogfish and Conger at night. It is also a good spot for Codling between November and February and float fishing for Mullet.
This pier was built in the years following the great famine of the 1840s. From 1850 steamboats operated in Cork Harbour between Aghada, Queenstown (Cobh), Passage West and Cork. The trade disappeared in the 1930s as road transport improved.
