Templetown Beach (also called Shellinghill) takes it name from the crusading "Knights Templar". This sandy and sheltered Blue Flag beach is one of Louth's most popular parts of its coastline and is protected on each side by rock promontories. The beach is ideal for families, swimming, walking, kitesurfing and many more activities.  The beach is manned by lifeguards during the bathing season (lifeguard patrol times are posted on the information noticeboard located at the beach).  Templetown beach is a great combination of natural beauty and scientific interest. There are toilet and parking facilities at the beach.
