The Castlegregory and Magherabeg Blue Flag Beach is a stunning beach within a larger and very extensive sandy beach and dune system stretching 37km (23 miles) from Derrymore to the east near Tralee and to Fermoyle Beach to the west at the foot of Brandon Mountain. With water sports for all ages including surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boats, water trampoline and much more, this beach has been a family favourite for years.
This beach is lifeguarded during the bathing season with lifeguard times are posted at the information noticeboard at the beach. This area is protected and is a Special area of Conservation. The area is composed of Carboniferous limestone and the area in general including the islands off the coast are important wintering grounds for birds including Brent and Barnacle Geese.
