Ballinskelligs Beach is a stunning sandy Blue Flag beach in county Kerry in the south west of Ireland off the Ring Of Kerry scenic drive.  This beach is located in the stunning Ballinskelligs Bay and is a safe, sheltered, scenic beach patrolled by lifeguards during the summer and perfect for family trips and great for all watersports.  There are numerous activities in the area, including swimming, walking and hiking, snorkeling, diving, golf (Waterville GC and Skellig Bay), horse riding, fishing, water sports and cycling.  From here your should visit to the World Heritage Site of Skellig Michael with day trips from Ballinskelligs pier and nearby Valentia and Portmagee.

Ballinskelligs Beach, Ring of Kerry, Skellig Coast, Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland

The beach is accessed off the amazing Skellig Ring Scenic Drive from Valentia Island to Caherdaniel which has the most magical views of The Skellig Islands.  This unmissable drive is an alternative to the least interesting section of the famous Ring of Kerry from Caherciveen to Waterville and is only suitable for cars (no buses allowed).  Near the beach is the iconic ancient archaeological site of the McCarthy Tower which can be access via a small spit of land from the beach.  This castle was constructed by the MacCarthy Mórs in the 16th century to protect the bay from pirates, and possibly in order to charge a tariff on incoming trade vessels.
